Is IOP Worth Attending Amid the Ongoing Pandemic?

These are strange and anxious times we find ourselves living in, with the serious threat of contracting CoVID-19 hanging over our heads every time we walk out our front doors. The ongoing pandemic should rightfully make you think twice before heading to a location where people congregate. When it comes to continuing your participation in an intensive outpatient program, the risk of neglecting this component of your recovery far outweighs the risk of contracting the coronavirus while attending groups for a number of reasons. Let’s look at the pros and cons of continuing your IOP treatment during the pandemic.

Substance Abuse Treatment Centers are staffed by medical professionals who fully understand the risks associated with contraction of coronavirus as well as appropriate measures for mitigating the spread of the virus. Here at Evolutions, we have taken all necessary precautions to ensure our client’s safety while they receive their much-needed addiction treatment, both in our residential inpatient programs and our outpatient programs. We require masks for everyone while they are on our campus, and we have established social distancing measures and regular testing of our staff to ensure the virus does not spread through our facility.

On the other hand, those in early sobriety are still working to build a foundation in their recovery, meaning they are still in a delicate stage and susceptible to relapse. If you are still enrolled in an IOP program having graduated from a residential treatment facility, your continued participation in IOP is vital to your continued sobriety and growth in recovery. At Evolutions, our IOP program is designed to complement and build on the progress you made in residential treatment, offering an opportunity for you to learn and practice new, healthy coping skills to replace your substance abuse disorder. Discontinuing your participation in this program could prove fatal for your sobriety, destroying all the progress you’ve made and forcing you to start back at square one.

You have gone to great lengths to improve your health and well-being by seeking help for your substance abuse disorder. While it would be a shame for you to contract the virus after making such strides towards a healthy life, it would be an even greater tragedy for you to sacrifice your sobriety out of an overabundance of caution that prevents your participation in an IOP program. At Evolutions Treatment Center, we have taken ever precaution to ensure our clients can safely engage in their prescribed treatment plan without having to worry about contracting coronavirus. If you have concerns regarding the mitigation practices in place at your current treatment center, call our Admissions Counselors today at 833-818-3031 and inquire about transferring into our IOP program so we may provide you the necessary care in a safe, secure setting.
