Relapse Prevention Support is Key to Long Term Recovery
The ultimate goal of any drug and alcohol treatment program is lifetime sobriety for every Client. To that end, we offer ongoing relapse prevention support on an outpatient basis. A number of the Evolutions therapists have been certified in relapse prevention through their continuing educational work with Terence Gorski, an internationally recognized leader in relapse prevention and education. They have acquired a “toolbox” of preventative strategies and approaches that they share with Clients in individual and group settings for use in overcoming roadblocks and hurdles encountered on the road to recovery.
Clients learn about interacting in or avoiding altogether social settings where drugs or alcohol may be present.
Our individualized treatment plans developed at the onset of treatment take into consideration each Client’s unique and personal triggers, obstacles or stressors that could potentially lead to relapse. This valuable insight is used by our team of therapists in developing coping strategies. As examples, Clients are counseled on interacting with family members and former associates who may present emotional triggers for relapse. Clients learn about interacting in or avoiding altogether social settings where drugs or alcohol may present themselves. Clients also learn how to combat loneliness, isolation and boredom that can often give way to relapse.
By understanding the unique challenges that each Client faces reintegrating into the community and maintaining a sober lifestyle, we are able to provide each Client with the tools and knowledge necessary for preventing relapse.
